Tracking your child’s development

This is the stage in your child’s life that gets them ready and prepares them for school, as well as for their future learning and successes. It is our mission to make this time happy, active, exciting, fun and secure, as well as to support their development, care and learning needs.

I fully understand how difficult it can be for parents to leave their child in a childcare setting and return to work. I will therefore work with you to ensure your child is settled and that you are happy with the care I am providing.

How your child will be learning

Your child will be learning skills, acquiring knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. Children should mostly develop the 3 prime areas first:

  •  Communication and language
  •  Physical development
  •  Personal, social and emotional development

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas:

  •  Literacy
  •  Mathematics
  •  Understanding the World
  •  Expressive Arts and Design

As childminders we use these development areas to plan your child’s learning and activities. Activities will be suited to your child’s unique ways. They will learn by playing and exploring, being active through creative and critical thinking, which will take place both indoors and outside.

Documenting your child’s learning journey

Every child that I welcome into my setting will have a documented learning journey that will track progress, highlight achievements and plan activities for the next steps as they continue to learn and develop.

Working inline with statuary guidelines including EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) I use an online platform called Tapestry Journal which allow you to follow and contribute to your child’s learning journey. During your child’s time at Bouncing Berries, continuous observations will be uploaded into the platform with supporting pictures and videos. You will be able to log in and view what your child has been doing and, if you wish, even add to the reports in your own time.
