About my setting
My goal is to provide a warm and loving environment where children feel safe while they develop vital skills through fun activities. In my setting we have created three different safe and stimulating areas that welcome children to play, learn and explore.
Downstairs Playroom
This is a light and bright open plan space that is available for children to access a variety of resources as well as a space for more structured activities. I organise activities to be a balance of adult and child led, with open ended resources to support children to grow resilience, to sort out problems and to have their own ideas during play.
Garden
The garden have been designed specifically with little ones in mind. We have created an engaging play area including sand pit, mud kitchen and lovely playhouse to explore. Children can access the garden from the downstairs playroom and in good weather we can fully open the bifold doors for access into the garden allowing us to enjoy the indoor and outdoor space equally. Nature is always close to us. We often observe the birds feeding on the seeds in our feeders as well as water and look after our growing plants and vegetables in the planters.
The Local Area
We are located less than 5 minutes walk from Grangewood Park and 10 minutes from South Norwood Lakes. This give us the chance to have fun in playgrounds but also creates opportunities to plan activities based on the things we do and see in the park. We often visit the ducks and swans as well as feed the squirrel and parrot that live in the park
