Nutritious, home prepared meals fully included

Food is one of the most important factors in children’s life in order to stay healthy and giving them the energy required to learn and develop. As EYFS says 3.1, pg.16: “Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure…”.

My previous experience as a chef has given me the experience to understand the importance of preparing delicious and nutritious homemade food that children enjoy while also complying with the Food Standard Agency and OFSTED guidance. I sometime will also create food relate activities for little ones to participate in, such as pizza making or cake baking, which helps to develop children’s understanding of food and what is healthy.

My ‘Food and Drink Policy’ asks parents to provide any written information about their children’s allergies, intolerances or other dietary requirements so I can amend my menu accordingly. I always note any possible allergens that might be contained in the ingredients on the menu so that if any allergic reactions do occur we are able to track any possible causes.

Menu & Meal times

Children are served a variety of healthy foods including breakfast, snacks twice a day and also a hot freshly prepared lunch and a light dinner. I make sure that children get access to enough nutrients and encourage them to try new flavours. I try to alternate the menu every two weeks while also making changes seasonally. Sometimes I might also prepare special meals during special festivals such as Easter, Chinese New Year and Christmas.
